What Makes REL Subwoofers Different?

But what makes these high-end subwoofers any different from other brands? Here are three reasons why REL subwoofers stand out.

1. Speed

Nothing drags down audio performance like a subwoofer that lags slightly. Even milliseconds of delay can disrupt the audio illusion in your mind. That’s why REL Acoustics has meticulously designed every aspect of their subs to optimize frequency response, from the lightweight drivers and cones to the circuitry within. The goal? To produce more bass in a smaller cabinet, REL uses passive radiators. Passive radiators aren’t an active driver, but rather an additional diaphragm that vibrates as the sub’s internal air pressure changes as the active driver moves in response to the signal.

REL subwoofers are even available in white, which is quite unusual! We find their white subwoofers are incredibly popular, especially for living rooms and dens (but perhaps not in dark home theaters).
