Springtime Fun in Atlanta!
What’s on everyone’s mind in Atlanta this March? Two Words: Spring. FEVER. The HiFi Buys team is pumped about all the great events that are just around the corner this season.
Alan, our Owner and CEO, and Chris, our Director of Operations, break down the concerts, festivals and events that have them excited for Spring 2016!
Alan’s Picks:
St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Peachtree Street
Saturday, March 12 | Noon to 1:30 p.m.
With over 2,000 dancers, musicians, balloons and the Budweiser Clydesdales marching down Peachtree Street, it’s a good day to be Irish in Atlanta. This event is free and open to the public!
Sister Hazel at the Variety Playhouse
Friday, April 22 | Doors at 7 p.m.; Show at 8 p.m.
These longtime southern favorites can always pack the house out. They’ll be sure to play longtime favorites and songs from their new album “Lighter in the Dark.” Alan says, “This band has a great vibe to them. I’ll be there!”
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
April 22 to May 1
Road trip! Music critics and fans alike call the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival “one of the greatest 7 days of music on earth.” This year’s headliners include Pearl Jam, Van Morrison, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nick Jonas, Elvis Costello, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, and hundreds of other bands in every musical genre. Did we mention there are over 60 food booths? Better pack your stretchy pants.
Chris’s Picks:
34th Annual Atlanta International Auto Show at the Georgia World Congress Center
Wednesday, March 9 through Sunday, March 13
It’s always a fun day checking out the newest concept, sports, and luxury cars. Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, and many more are on hand to show off and discuss their cars. Chris says, “I’m especially looking forward to seeing the new 2017 Audi R8, among other surprises!”
Shamrocks & Shenanigans at Meehan’s Public House in Buckhead
Saturday, March 12 | Noon to Close
Live music all day and drink specials would be good enough to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but the great people and fantastic food at Meehan’s make it Chris’ favorite place to spend this most American of Irish holidays. Get your tickets early; this event can sell out!
BaconFest 2016 presented by Dad’s Garage Theatre Company
Saturday, March 26 | Starts at 12 p.m.
According to Chris: “A festival built around drinking beer and eating bacon would be enough to get me there. Throw in some hilarious events (drunk spelling bee just as one example) and hire some of the best improv comics in Atlanta to run the games, and this has become one of my favorite events in Atlanta every year. Lots of fun and – from their website – ‘all proceeds benefit Dad’s Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome.’ ”
And that’s just for starters. There are PLENTY of great shows coming to Atlanta and points south this summer. We’ll keep you posted!
